Perimeter successfully completed a full-scale evacuation drill with Incline Village on Wednesday, as covered by ABC’s KOLO-TV News.
Farren was interviewed on Wednesday by KOLO-TV 8 News Now ABC videographer Stone Sues. Officials from several local public safety agencies, including the sheriff’s department and North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, were present.
KOLO-TV evening anchor Denise Wong stated this drill “simulated a wildfire” and tested current Washoe County evacuation plans. Wong continued to state this drill also introduced Tahoe residents to the Perimeter tool, “a real-time mapping platform that first responders can use to share with residents.”
“The kind of information that residents will have access to are things like evacuation areas, potential road closures, hazards, or even resources the county wants to point them to,” Farren said.
Washoe County told KOLO-TV that necessary information would be made publicly available at perimetermap.com during an emergency. Washoe officially partnered with Perimeter on May 22, 2023, to mitigate the impact of severe flooding
Perimeter is a real-time evacuation management platform that supports information sharing and collaboration across public safety agencies.
