Perimeter won two of the four categories voted on by judges and audience members at Thursday’s ONE WORLD Virtual Impact Summit, which recognized companies with significant potential for social impact.
10 founders, including Perimeter CEO Bailey Farren, were hand-selected by the ONE WORLD team to present at the event for an audience of investors and other social entrepreneurs. Audience members ranked Perimeter first for its potential to create social impact, as well as for having the leadership team best suited for its business.
The annual Impact Summit, held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, connects investors and founders interested in solving problems ranging from sustainable energy to social justice. Farren attended an invitation-only CEO roundtable led by JD Schramm from Stanford University, and a variety of speakers led breakout sessions focusing on investments in specific industries.
Farren’s presentation focused on the importance of situational intelligence for pandemic preparedness, and recent developments of the Perimeter platform to help first responders achieve coordinated disaster response while grappling with COVID-19. Founders were each given four minutes to pitch for assembled investors, with a two minute question period following each pitch.
Keynote speaker Steve Westly, Founder and Managing Partner of the sustainability-focused venture firm the Westly Group, spoke about the strength and resilience acquired by companies started in times of economic hardship such as the coronavirus outbreak. Perimeter co-founders Farren and Noah Wu were awarded the Westly Prize for social innovation in 2020.
