Perimeter is an AI-powered data platform for disaster response and management. We bridge the gap between government agencies and the communities they serve — replacing outdated text alerts with real-time evacuation maps, routes, and guidance during wildfires, floods, and other emergencies. Currently deployed across 14 states and on track to serve more than half of the US states by the end of this year, Perimeter is entering a pivotal moment of national scale.

About the Role

• Own architecture, reliability, and end-to-end engineering execution for a production, mission-critical platform operating in real emergency deployments.
• Lead and scale a talented, agile engineering team; establish and uphold high technical standards, code quality, and engineering best practices.
• Partner directly with the founder to define technical direction, shape the product roadmap, and drive disciplined execution across the stack.
• Strengthen backend infrastructure, DevOps practices, and system resilience for a high-stake system.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate complex emergency-management requirements into scalable, reliable software.
• Architect the foundation for continued national expansion as Perimeter rapidly scales its footprint across the United States.

Requirements

• Substantial background in cloud architecture and distributed systems, with demonstrated experience operating large-scale systems under demanding conditions.
• Proven track record of shipping AI-powered products in production environments.
• Meaningful engineering leadership experience, including hiring, developing, and scaling technical teams.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, early-stage environment — contributing hands-on while setting strategic direction.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the founder, customers, and the broader team.
• Uncompromising standards for code quality, maintainability, and system reliability — particularly for software that is critical to millions of people during disasters.
