Perimeter co-founder and CEO Bailey Farren was interviewed live for the KSRO Morning News last week about the inspiration behind the Perimeter platform.

Farren was interviewed on Thursday by Morning News Anchor Pat Kerrigan, who has covered issues of fire safety extensively since the Tubbs Fire devastated much of the North Bay area in October 2017. KSRO is a Santa Rosa-based radio station providing news for the Sonoma County area.

Kerrigan and Farren spoke about the need for improved evacuation notices and communication between first responders and the public. As Farren noted in the interview, Perimeter is continuing an extensive period of beta-testing with local departments that began last fire season in order to receive candid feedback and determine the optimal means for integrating the Perimeter platform with existing department workflows.

The platform originated as a research project at UC Berkeley, where Farren discovered that first responders are relying on outdated tools like radio or paper maps to respond to wildfires. This helped inspire her to found Perimeter with co-founder and CTO Noah Wu following the 2018 Camp Fire.

The interview recording is available online here.
